Chrysochroa fulminans, The Jewel Beetle

Hello readers,

Today, I’m gonna make a review about Chrysochroa fulminans. That’s a beetle (Coleoptera, Buprestidae) with a green metallic color all over its body. I’m interested to this beetle because its color. If you look it from different side, you can see the different color on each side. Most of Buprestidae family are colorful so that the beetles were targeted by many collectors of insect.

Back to the Chrysochroa fulminans. I wanna know more about this beetle because of my task in Basic Entomology course requires me to collect insects.Β  This beetle is common insect of Hibiscus tiliaceus tree in Indonesia. When I was little, I liked to find this beetle at the tree around my house. But people nowadays said that this beetle is rare to be found. Then I checked at that tree, I found just 6 beetles whereas 15 years ago, I could find more than 20 beetles at a tree.

These beetles are hunted, that’s why they’re difficult to be found. If you search in Google with keyword Chrysochroa fulminans, you’ll find so many sites which sells these insects preserved. No question why, because of its color and its hard elytra, the beetle is widely used as a pendant or other accessories. But, commonly in Indonesia, it used as “susuk“. From Wikipedia, “Susuk” are needles made of gold or other precious metals, which are inserted into the softtissues of the body to act as talismans. Susuk has various supposed purposes, ranging from the purely aesthetic to the treatment of joint pains and other minor ailments. This practice are also used as protection against injury and accidents.

But you know, this beetle is quite difficult to be stabbed πŸ˜€

Places I Wanna Go ; Part 3

Hello readers,

I’m back again with old topic : Places I Wanna Go. Yeah, that’s a review about a place that I wanted to see.

And now, I’m talking about Batu City.

Batu is a region in East Java, on highland and has so many beautiful places to be visited. I once lived in Batu because I worked there for a month. Then I visited Selecta, BNS (Batu Night Spectacular), and Jawa Timur Park 1. I wanna visit Songgoriti (a hot spring pool) but I don’t have enough time 😦

Why do I wanna go there?

I’m an agricultural student in an university in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. I really really love nature (but I don’t brave enough to join nature lovers organization at my college). At Batu, I found so many beautiful scenery. Next to Selecta, there is a cultivation area which has a good landscape, so that if you look it from Selecta, it looks beautiful. Then if you wanna go to Songgoriti, you can see a beautiful hill behind the spring pool and you can find a traditional market which is selling apples with low prices.

Batu has been developed to be a tourist city. You can find some water parks, night market, vehicle parks, and nature tourism spots.

Music Review : Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing” Cover by JYJ

Honestly, I’ve watched JYJ’s Thanksgiving in Tokyo Dome a year ago. But I just focused on Itsudatte Kimi Ni and “W” because the lyrics were touched me. So, I made a mistake with skipped other songs 😦

Then I found “I Have Nothing” at the end of 1st part of the concert. Firstly, I thought it was JYJ’s new song, but it sounds familiar. Then I searched and downloaded it on internet, that song was Whitney Houston’s.

I know, JYJ has sang it with a few notes below the original song because they are men so they have different vocal register with women. But when I listened to them singing…

That performance is thrilling, chilling, and really really GREAT!! Till I shed a tears. Honestly, I’m Jaejoong fan…but objectively, Jaejoong in particular sounded fantastic. He sang it with full of emotion and passionately, so did Junsu and Yuchun. As men, they hit the high notes perfectly πŸ˜€

And thanks to Mr. Sam (the total stage producer) and the bands. They have made a great stage, lighting, camera setting, a great music arrangement, and instruments which supported the performance.

You can see their performance here, check this video πŸ˜€

TV Movies Review : House MD

Hello, I’m back!!

And now I’m addicted to House MD. That’s not a new thing, because I already watched House MD since its 1st Season, but it’s pending because I’m busy about my study, so I missed 4th season till now.

Then I downloaded from 1st season and re-watch it πŸ˜€ You know? I still love Dr. Robert Chase and his relationship with Dr. Allison Cameron. I didn’t know that in the end of 5th season, they’re married, but in the 7th season, they’re divorced 😦 That’s why I don’t wanna watch 7th season and so on.

But, the House’ quote is interesting. “Everybody Lies”.Yeah, that’ the truth about his patients. Me, as a patient, sometimes didn’t mention about causal of my pain. Maybe something embarrassing or disgusting to be told to the doctor in front of our parents. But that’s really important to be known by the doctor.

In the House MD, sometimes the doctors need to “visit” the patient’s house to discover something strange that maybe can be the causal of their sickness. Hahaha, like a detective, and that’s interesting you know. I feel like the doctor is totally doing his/her job, not just want the high payment from the patient. You know, lately, so many doctors just have a title of doctor, but they don’t have dedication. They can do malpractice and gambling with the patient’s life because they just have title, not dedication.
